I've been torn in between the TLR7 Sub and the SF XSC for my 43X MOS. Hopefully I don't regret my decision. It just feels so good in my hand. It's worth it in my opinion. From a purely mechanical point of view, the only major difference between the Glock 43X and the Glock 48 is the barrel length. With the 10 and 13 round mags is where the Shield has the real edge with concealment. So $50 to throw. Honestly, I think most people would have trouble telling them apart, and I think I'd need a timer and a lot of runs to really quantify any difference. Try the g48 before making a decision. That being said, I would choose the 48, more velocity, longer sight radius, and imo smoother shooting, with the same frame I went from the P365X to my G43X and like you, just prefer and shoot the Glock better. It's a do it all that can't go wrong with 5+ rounds more. Assuming OEM mags, the glock will probably be more reliable if only because the OEM mags are single stack and single stack mags can be more reliable than double stack. But I will never sell my 48 because of the way it handles and the simple fact it shoots like a 19 and feels closer to my 17 than the 43x does. 5 is significantly better as a CCW than 43x. The 48 didn’t feel as smooth or balanced to me. Depends on what feels good for you, but a 48/43x would be my bet if you already have a 17. The 43x was my first glock.
